The only DoorDash credit you can stack up and spend on any order is gift card balance. Everything else DoorDash offers is a discount with conditions: a promo in your account, a member challenge, a payment-method deal. All six ways below were checked against DoorDash’s US help center in October 2026.
1. Earn a DoorDash gift card on a rewards platform
Gift card balance is the cleanest form of credit, and DoorDash’s gift card terms explain why:
To redeem, open the app, go to Account, tap Gift Card, then Redeem, and enter the 11-digit PIN. DoorDash says the credit applies automatically to your next order and combines with credits you already have.

2. Use the promos DoorDash puts in your account
DoorDash publishes the terms of its promotions in the Promotions section of its help center. When checked, the list included new-customer offers for specific merchants, grocery codes that take a fixed amount off above a minimum basket, and buy-one-get-one deals at national chains.
The pattern across them is consistent:
Promos you are eligible for show up in the app, and at checkout you pick one from your promo wallet. Check there before every order rather than searching coupon sites.
3. Complete a DashPass challenge
DoorDash runs challenges for DashPass members: place a set number of qualifying orders within a window and unlock money off a later one. One example in the help center, as of October 2026:
This only counts as free if you were going to place those orders anyway.
4. Watch for payment-method offers
DoorDash sometimes gives a discount for paying a certain way. Its help center lists Cash App Pay promotions, including one for 10% off one eligible delivery order with a $15 minimum subtotal and a $10 cap, valid for 7 days.
The terms say “Only available to select customers”, so you cannot sign up for it. If it appears in your app, take it.
5. Reach Elite Customer status
DoorDash describes Elite Customer status as recognition for people who order often. The benefits it lists include a dedicated support channel, early access to new features, and monthly promotional codes for restaurants.
DoorDash names two paths: using DoorDash for all your food delivery, or holding a Chase Sapphire Reserve or DoorDash Rewards credit card while subscribed to DashPass. It does not publish an order count or the value of the monthly codes.
6. Claim the credits you are owed
When an order arrives with an item missing or wrong, report it in the app under that order. If DoorDash issues credits, its help center says they go to the account used for the original order, are available immediately, and apply automatically to your next order.
This is your own money coming back, not a bonus. Report real problems only. False claims are fraud and a quick way to lose the account.
What about referrals?
Referrals are not counted among the six because the DoorDash help center pages checked for this article do not describe a customer referral program. If a referral offer appears in your app, the terms shown there are the ones that apply.
What does not work
“Free DoorDash credit” generators, “glitch” tricks and accounts sold with credit already loaded are scams. Gift card PINs are created and checked on DoorDash’s side, so a web page cannot invent one, and accounts with preloaded credit are typically stolen.

Can I combine a gift card with a promo?
Gift card balance is a payment method and promos are discounts, and DoorDash’s checkout has one place for “promo codes, rewards & gift cards”. DoorDash’s help pages do not state the combination rules outright, and many promos say they cannot be combined with other promotions.
Do DoorDash gift cards expire?
No. DoorDash’s US terms say gift cards will not expire and carry no fees.
