Free iTunes Codes: Scams to Avoid and the Method That Works

Free iTunes Codes: Scams to Avoid and the Method That Works

No website or app can generate a working iTunes code. The only free codes that redeem are real gift cards that somebody paid for and gave to you, which in practice means a gift, a store promotion, or a reward you earned on a rewards platform.

One note on the name. Apple’s redemption page is titled “Redeem your Apple Gift Card, App Store Card, or App Store & iTunes Gift Card”. The card sold in the US today is the Apple Gift Card, and it does the job the old iTunes card did.

Why code generators cannot work

A gift card code is not a formula. Apple creates each code, stores it on its own servers, and marks it as live only when a retailer or distributor activates it at the point of sale. When you type a code into the App Store, Apple looks it up. A code that Apple did not issue and activate does not exist as far as that lookup is concerned.

A generator page prints random strings in the right format. None of them are in Apple’s database. The page is there for one of these reasons:

The second scam: being told to pay with Apple gift cards

This one costs people far more than generators do. Apple runs a dedicated support page about it, and its description of the pattern is short: scammers contact you by call, text message, email or social media, create a sense of panic and urgency, and request payment, financial help or a gift using gift cards. They often stay on the line while you buy the cards, then ask for the codes.

Apple’s rule is that its gift cards work only for Apple products and services. They cannot pay bills such as utilities, debt collection or hospital expenses, and they cannot pay government fees such as taxes, immigration or social security. Apple’s page quotes the IRS position that gift cards are never used to make tax payments.

The Federal Trade Commission puts it in one sentence: “No real business or government agency will ever tell you to buy a gift card to pay them.”

Signs you are in this scam

If you already gave someone a code

Act immediately. As of October 2026, Apple and the FTC give these steps for the US:

The method that works: earn a real card

A legitimate free code always traces back to someone who paid Apple for it. On a rewards platform, that someone is the platform, using money advertisers paid for the tasks you completed.

On CashyGo the route looks like this:

The card is a US Apple gift card, so it redeems on a US Apple Account. The amounts you can choose are shown on the withdraw page. Redeem the code soon after it arrives, so it is on your account and not sitting in a message.

CashyGo’s FAQ says there is no guaranteed daily income, and what you earn depends on the offers available in your country and your effort. The rules are one account per person, with no VPN, proxy, emulator or jailbroken device. Users under 18 may need parental consent.

FAQ

Are free iTunes code generators real?

No. Codes are issued and validated on Apple’s servers. A generator cannot create one that Apple will accept.

Are iTunes cards and Apple Gift Cards the same thing?

Apple’s redemption page covers the Apple Gift Card, the App Store Card and the App Store & iTunes Gift Card together. New cards sold in the US are Apple Gift Cards, valid only for US transactions.

Someone says I must pay a bill with Apple gift cards. Is that ever legitimate?

No. Apple says its gift cards cannot pay bills, taxes or government fees, and the FTC says no real business or agency will ask for payment by gift card.

Can I get my money back after giving a scammer the code?

Sometimes, if you move fast. Call Apple at 800-275-2273, ask about freezing the funds, and report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
