Free iCloud+ Storage: How to Avoid Paying Monthly

Free iCloud+ Storage: How to Avoid Paying Monthly

Apple does not give away iCloud+. Every Apple Account gets 5 GB of iCloud storage for free, and anything above that is an iCloud+ plan that Apple bills monthly. What you can do is make someone else’s plan, a trial, or Apple Gift Card balance cover that bill so nothing leaves your bank account.

This article covers the United States as of October 2026, using Apple’s own support and product pages.

What is free and what is not

Apple’s storage page says payment can be made with credit cards, debit cards and your Apple Account balance. That last option is the one that matters for this article.

Route 1: Join a family member’s plan

This is the only way to get iCloud+ storage for nothing, indefinitely, within Apple’s rules. Apple says every iCloud+ tier can be shared with up to five other family members at no extra cost, and that each person’s files, documents and other personal information stay private and separate.

If a parent, partner or sibling already pays for 200 GB or 2 TB and uses a fraction of it, ask them to add you through Family Sharing. They share the storage pool, not their photos.

Family Sharing is meant for a real family group, not a stranger’s “family” sold on a forum.

Route 2: The Apple One trial

Every Apple One tier includes iCloud+: 50 GB on Individual, 200 GB on Family and 2 TB on Premier. Apple’s Apple One page says any subscriptions you do not already have are free for the first month, for new and qualified returning subscribers.

Apple’s iCloud page also describes three months of Apple One free with the purchase of a new iPhone, iPad or Mac, with the same condition: the trial includes only subscriptions you are not already using.

Trial lengths change, so go by the offer shown on your own device when you sign up.

A trial is temporary. When it ends, the plan renews at the regular rate, and Apple says to cancel at least 24 hours before a trial ends if you do not want it to renew.

If you store more than 5 GB during a trial, read Apple’s “Downgrade or cancel your iCloud+ plan” support page before the trial ends, and copy anything important somewhere else first.

Route 3: Pay the monthly charge from Apple Gift Card balance

Apple’s iCloud storage page names Apple Account balance as a payment method for iCloud+, and Apple’s gift card page lists iCloud+ among the things an Apple Gift Card can be used for. Redeem a gift card, and the balance is there to be used for the plan.

You are still on a monthly plan. The difference is where the money comes from. A gift card you earned rather than bought makes the plan effectively free for as long as the balance lasts. How many months one card covers depends on the tier, so check the current price in Settings before you choose.

Apple Gift Cards are valid only for US transactions.

Earning the card

On CashyGo you complete tasks for points and trade the points for gift cards or cash. The Earn page lists game offers, surveys, app trials, videos and quizzes.

Once you have the points, request an Apple gift card, redeem the code in the App Store, then upgrade to iCloud+ in Settings.

The card is a US Apple gift card, and redeeming it adds to your Apple Account balance. The amounts you can choose are shown on the withdraw page.

CashyGo’s FAQ states there is no guaranteed daily income. Offers depend on your country, and the rules allow one account per person with no VPN, proxy or emulator.

Route 4: Stay inside the free 5 GB

Many people pay for iCloud+ because of one or two large items. Before upgrading, open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, and look at what is using the space. The usual culprits are old device backups from phones you no longer own, backups of apps that do not need backing up, and large attachments in Messages.

Deleting an old device’s backup is safe if you no longer use that device. Deleting photos from iCloud Photos is different: it removes them from every device signed in to that account, so copy them somewhere else first.

Offers to ignore

FAQ

Is iCloud+ ever free?

Only in three cases: a family member shares their plan with you, you are inside an Apple One trial, or Apple Account balance from a gift card you did not pay for covers the charge.

How much iCloud storage is free?

5 GB per Apple Account.

Can I pay for iCloud+ with an Apple Gift Card?

Yes. Apple lists Apple Account balance as a payment method for iCloud+, and you add balance by redeeming an Apple Gift Card.

How is iCloud+ billed?

Apple’s storage page says you are billed monthly after upgrading.

How long does it take to earn enough on CashyGo?

There is no fixed answer. CashyGo guarantees no daily amount, and the time depends on the offers you choose and how much time you give them.
